As a former student at Everglades, I must say that this school has its good and its bad. It is a small school, meaning that there are more chances that a student gets individual attention from parents and counselors. The teachers are very prepared and knowledgeable. They actually know what they are talking about. The counselors actually try to create your schedule and accommodate everyone. The counselors are always available to speak to, and they will listen. They put together great activities like book fairs, pep rallies, and motivate the students to excel. However, the school is a very controlled environment. I think in my 5 years there I only saw 3 fights, and they were taken care of extremely quickly. Yet, if a student continues with the feeder pattern into Miami Coral Park Senior High School, they enter a larger school with less of a controlled environment. Also, there less opportunities to compete in athletic events unless thestudent is enrolled in a PE class

i am a student at Everglades k-8 Center (i am in middle school) i have to say that we have the best teachers at our school and i learn alot P.E has to be taken in both 6th and 7th grade. i actually enjoy going to school since the taechers make it fun to learn they just dont throw you everything at once they explain it untill you understand it. the teachers here make learning fun and not boring. my favorite teacher at this school is Ms.Chuchill, my langusge arts teacher she is the best and the nicest teacher i have ever had. my other teachers are good too like ms.collier, mrs.pedraja, mr.guadano atc

Parent evolvement has not improved. Parents are kept out of the loop. Test scores are most important so that the school appears good. Teachers are great and try their best. No extracurricular activities unless you send your child to after school care. My child does not get any Physical Education at this school. They use that time for Reading class for the FCAT.

The school during the year 2005-2006 has improved somewhat. I still feel that parent participation is not encouraged. The principal talks the talk but not the walk. Dr Traver also says her door is always open but not her ears. Children in kindergarten and first grade do not have physical education because 'it is not important', yet the U.S.A has a large increasing amount of children that will be overweight. Too much is placed on tests and children are not really learning to read and write. In younger children too many subjects and not enough comprehension. The results of this failure will soon be seen.

Academics are strong, but falls short on creativity. No sports except through paid after-care program. Band program is small. Parent involvment is good.

This school is excellent, the administration does a very good job of challenging the students and the teachers are always willing to talk to parents. The school in itself has a very home like feel since most students have been there since kindergarden. Music and Art are taught at Everglades and PE is required up to Middle School where it becomes an elective. The staff is corteous and treats the students fairly. Overall an excellent school.

The administration does a great job at challanging our kids and leaving no child behind. The principal is very energetic and is visible all the time. The teachers reflect the energy and are very enthusiastic about teaching.. (Happy teachers + Happy students= success).. Great learning environment. We are definetly happy to be at Everglades K-8.

My stepson Anthony has been attending Everglades for 4 1/2 years. He has come a long way, thanks to the great ESE teachers. The staff everyone from the security guards to the principal have been great. Last year, I needed to change Anthony from a classroom and placed into a more appropriate one for his level and it only took one week for that be effective. They are there to listen and resolve our issues and concerned for the well being of our children. This year my little princess Gabriella is s roll model for Pre-K with Ms. Dawson, and Ms. Arlene, whom are the best. Hopefully, I will get the same great outcome from Gabriella. May you keep up the good work and being an 'A' school.

This year is the first year my son attended a public school and my daughter started pre-3. We were concerned if our son would adjust to the environment and specifically test and pass the fcat. Without the superior support of the teachers, staff and dr. Tarver and her crew, adrian would not have passed the fcat. He loves the school! thank you everglades as for my daughter she attends l.E.A.P. A new program for typical and mildly autistic children. Sofia has grown so much this school year. She loves her friends and ms. Dawson, ms. Arlene and ms. Arla are superior teachers! what a wonderful program. Sofia has learned a great deal and has grown intellectually beyond my hopes!

The school's rating has gone down the past few years. It's definately not what it used to be. There is not enough homework and my child has not been challenged enough this year. I believe the school has the potential of becoming again an A school, but its up to the faculity to do so.

This school was average. I'm glad we switched to Ponce De Leon. Some like it there, but its not for us.

I am hoping that with a new Principal, parents will be more welcome at the school. In this school and in most of Dade County parents are not welcome to be part of their childs education. I am sure Dr. Doylene Tarver will remedy this.

I think this is a very good school. But, I have to agree that they do not want the parents involved at all. I think this is no good for either parent, child or teacher. I think we should do something to change this procedure.

This is my daughter's second year attending and thus far I have no complaints about the teachers. However, I must say that many times I have seen the administration not allowing parents to become involved with the teachers as sometimes is needed. This is very frustrating for the teacher, child and the parent!

The teachers are great but the administration does not welcome parents. They make parents feel like outsiders. Not a friendly school like it once was. They keep sending new principals to this school and each one makes more distance between the school and the parent. Since the teachers are good you just have drop your kid off and get out of there.
