Very active Principal and staff. There is a true feeling of love for the children. The teachers and staff want what is best for the children. it is a clean, safe, happy school. The upper grades seem to be better then the younger. small class sizes too. the down side...no sports, play yard is black top. no real art classes or gym class. this is due to budget cuts and not enough funding. The teachers really want what is best for the students. I think the lack of parental involvement is due to the language barrier as it is mainly Hispanic.

It seems that this school really has it together. It is traditional single track, has a decent API score 745, I believe. It was even featured in the Wall Street Journal not too long ago. It mentioned that the parents were very involved. There are also plenty of extracurricular activities.

This is a school located in a neighborhood that is constantly in a state of flux. The teachers are very good but have to follow the districts requirements. There was no daycare, only an afterschool playground. Many parents do not participate in the PTA, I believe because it is subtly discouraged by the school. There are really no extracurricular activities; they leave that up to a local charity group. On the postivie side, everyone is well behaved.

After a long hard struggle, perhaps this school has a chance to turn around and become a central part of it's community.

This school has one of the best atmospheres for children. The teachers and kids are great. Everybody feels so welcomed. It's one of those schools where everybody knows each other, parents, student's, teachers. They try really hard to keep not only the parents and children involved, but they always invite the community to come join as well. I'm really proud to be involved with Cheremoya Ave. Elementary.

For those parent's researching for a school for their children, you could not make a better chioce than Cheremoya Avenue, we all [want] the best for the children of our future. As, a former student, I'm proud to see all that Cheremoya has done throughout all these years. They have grown, but that warmth I grew in hasn't changed a bit. You know the first years of school are the most important ones and there couldn't be a better choice than Cheremoya Elementary. It's been 10 years now that I left that school, and I thank Cheremoya for they were the start of my school years that I will never forget. Cheremoya will always have a big place in my heart.
