I had to write this review, both of my sons have graduated from Jack Britt HS. When this school opened, it was truly the premiere school in Fayetteville. As the years have progressed though, I see more and more problems developing. THe problems are only with a few teachers, but the administrators seem to think they must support their teachers no matter what. Lopes, the principal, is also becoming more domineering and antiquated in his thought processes. Really too bad, he started off as a great leader, and built a great school. Right now, if I had my choice I would not send my child to Jack Britt. IF they fit the mold and aren't driven or creative, but are a good student, they will do well, but the school does not promote students that think for themselves. Hopefully they will clean house in the admin office and fix the problem.

As a recent graduate, I feel comfortable in informing the spectators of this website that although Jack Britt is an excellent school, do not expect it to make your children brighter! I was an honor student before and while at Jack Britt; I will continue to be in college.

Jack Britt has outstanding teachers and a wide variety of opportunities for students to effectively prepare for their future careers! This school challenges students academically, in the arts, and in life skills. I've never seen so many high school students willingly go to school on a Saturday for End-of-Course reviews. My daughter always chooses to go because she appreciates that the teachers want their students to do their best. Excellent School!

I have two children currently attending JBHS. Based upon our experiences, I would give this school four and a half stars, but the administrators make it difficult to give one star. Most of the teachers are awesome and display a genuine concern for students and their education. Unfortunately, the administrators are very unprofessional, unfair, and show very little respect/concern for the average student but seek to preserve the image of the school. Great job faculty and students. You deserve better!

I agree with the student who wrote the disipline needs to be more even and fair. If you are not an above avereage student they really don't want you in Jack Britt.

As a parent that has had three children attend Jack Britt, I think that this school is one of the best, if not THE best high school in Cumberland County. Sure, Jack Britt has its share of problems; no school is perfect, but overall, the quality of education and administrative leadership is excellent. The students seem genuinely happy to be attending Jack Britt. I sat and watch four lunch periods while selling homecoming tickets and I was amazed at how smoothly and quietly everything proceeded, knowing that about 1900 students each lunch during these periods. I credit the administration who sit eating their lunches with the students. I have a daughter currently attending Jack Britt and she has had no problem finding extracurricular activities to keep her busy, none of these being athletics. For a well-rounded quality education, send your children to this school.

As a former, very involved, high acheiving student at Jack Britt, I believe I have a pretty accurate outlook on the way in which the school is run. I was a freshman the very first year the school opened and remained until I graduated in 2004. I feel like I came to college prepared with the education JBHS provided for me, but I still feel like the school needs more administrative leadership! There is alot of drama within the faculty that has occured over the years that I think is utterly unprofessional and a bad example for the students! I had a great experience at Jack Britt, but I think alot of the credit should go to the **excellent** district that the school was placed in and a few amazing teachers and not the administration. Great student make-up! And some awesome teachers! This is a very safe and enjoyable learning env.!

I am currently a student at Jack Britt High School. Most of the student are rather nice but you get those few people you really can't stand. Some of the students are very disresepctful to teachers and to themselves. The language department needs some work. My old school was smaller than this and we had German. Jack Britt doesn't offer German. The dress code is not properly enforced. The disipline needs to be more even and fair.

I attended Jack Britt High School from 2001 to 2005. Alot of people are giving it bad reviews saying people have been disrespectful to their children. If you feel that way, lock your children in a protective bubble and hide them away from the world because honestly that is a way of life. The teachers are great, there are the good teachers, the bad teachers, and the ones you love to hate. It's true that the school is obsessed with football but since they're good at it, why not focus on it. The arts programs are actually not that bad. The chorus program is good as well but many people say the teacher is too hard (when she's really not).

I have had the privaledge to be in the second class to graduate at Jack Britt, and I absolutely loved it. Sure, the drive was unnecesarily long, considering 71st was within walking distance, but I didn't mind. The teachers there were excellent, the set up of the classrooms and materials provided were excellent. Just going to that school gave me a sense of pride. I still remember the quotes that my teachers said, and I have even been back to do my teaching observations there. It was my first pick school to students teach at (too bad they didn't need a student teacher then!). I absolutely love the prinipals, secretaries, teachers, and all remaining faculty as a family. Beautiful school, I miss it!

My son attended JBHS his freshman year. Overall we enjoyed it. However, disappointed that the resources needed to help his grade improve was not available to high school students. No other attempt was made by the school to help him in his needed area. Mr. Lopes very approachable. Both computer teachers my son had were no approachable. Witnessed one of his teachers engaging in a battle of words with another student. Overall, for such a large school, it is well run.

I am so glad that my child attends Jack Britt. So far, this has been a wonderful school. I like their academic/elective choices, there are a lot of extracurricular activities and their staff is courteous and helpful. I have attended sports events, performances, have met with teachers for conferences and even went in to see the counselor with my child to get help on her education plan. Everyone has been terrific here and I look forward to the next 3 years.

Regardless of what SOME people think, this school is very well rounded. Along with a very productive, and growing, sports programs, the find arts programs are continuing to evolve. Clubs, events and even honor programs have begun to be offered to help students increase their activities in fine arts. Unlike one parent here, the band program has had it hard, however it has been out of growth. The one thing I would ding the school on is the lack of parental involvement. We do have some parents involved with helping mostly the sports teams. However, wehn it comes to the fine arts, parent are no-where to be seen (except when there is a problem). If you do bring your child here and they participate in fine arts, PLEASE make sure you involve yourself in those programs. I'm very well sure the teachers will appreciate it.

I think Jack Britt did not live up to the expectations of the community. The principal is one of the better ones but some of the teachers are not. Some are very disrespectful. On the other hand some of the teachers are very patient and encouraging. They are truly concerned about the student education. The school is mostly focused on football. There are so many other clubs/organizations in the that should be better represented and encouraged by the school. The dance team has a great instructor and a very talented squad but they are hardly advertised the way they should be. It is alot better than some of the other comberland county schools.

Jack Britt High School is a nice school but, if your child is interested in the arts, like music, do not send them to this school. The 2004-2005 has been the worst year yet for the marching band - there seems to be a severe lack of leadership in the band program. It was much better in years past. Maybe if they get a new director things might improve. The sports program is good, they went to the playoffs in football and they seem to have a good amount of extracurricular activities for students to get involved in. It just depends what you are looking for. Thank you!

Jack Britt High School is the premier school in the area (Fayetteville/Hope Mills/Fort Bragg). Mostly due to the excellent dedication, hard work, caring nature, and background in the subjects they teach of the faculty at Jack Britt, students get a 'top-of-the-line' education. The awesome environment of Jack Britt High has produced some of the top graduation rates and testing scores in North Carolina. These scores are not limited to only whites either; these scores were attained with no majority present in the school, as the ratio of Caucasian students to African American students is roughly 1-to-1. There is a wide variety of high level courses at Jack Britt through the Advanced Placement (AP) program. This high school offers a great deal of these AP courses to students willing to meet the challenge. Jack Britt also has a great sports program in which almost all varsity sports make the playoffs.

Being in this town for a long time and hearing that Jack Britt is such a top rated school, we have been more than disappointed in several happenings. The teachers and most of the staff are more than rude to parents and students. Many of the students are out of control with disrepect to teachers and students. Ratings are not the only way any parent should look for a school system for their child to attend.

I have found the office staff to be openly rude to students, administrators to be inconsistant in dealing with discipline issues and both staff and students to be racially biased. My kids were treated better in a predominately black school in Fayetteville than at Jack Britt. Thank God the former assistant principal is gone.

I graduated last year from Jack Britt it is undenaiably one of the greatest high schools in the state. I believe there is no other place in the area where there is such commitment to athletics balanced with sound and innovative education. Anyone leaving that school is well prepared for whatever they decide to do next in life.

My children have attended schools in the north, south, east, and west and this school is the most unethical, immoral, unfair school my children have ever attended.

An excellent progression from an A+ school like Joh Griffin Middle. This high school lives up to the reputation in town that it is an exceptional school. We are very lucky to have this educational opportunity for our children. My daughter is in the honors classes at Jack Britt and has been challenged and recognized for her extra efforts these past two years. Remarkable teaching staff. Wonderful school. A++++++++
