The city of Allen builds all community parks and facilities around schools. This is very unique and is a excellent idea. I am especially pleased with Allen HS's Oachestra program. It is one of the best.

This is a large and amazing school. Its academic standards are very high and has a myriad of organizations to be involved in. It is recognized and known for its excellence and the students can make the most of their time spent there all while being greatly prepared for college. However, a school is always what you make of it, so take advantage of the classes and clubs.

The school is new and very large. It has a good diversity of programs. The school requires a great deal from its students. My son is a B/C student and finds some classes difficult, but I'm sure other students would be very successful here.

I moved to Texas from California in 1998, and Allen High school's new building opened in 1999. This is the only high school in Allen. The school has various sprts activities like football, swimming, basketball, etc. And it has great band team, which represented Texas in Rose Parade 2006. Parents in this area are very active at school due to large percentage of stay-home moms.

Very large school both in size and in population. Very fast paced. Does not have good one on one environment. Mainly white people. Most students very well off.

This is a great school with many opportunities to offer. These range from choir, band, orchestra, and art all the way to internships in other fields. The programs are all above expectations.

While the school has a nice overall appeal, I am disappointed in the academic programming. There seems to be a general lack of concern on ensuring we are truly challenging our gifted and talented children. There is also a lack of emphasis on the need to pursue higher education and career development.

Excellent school with diversified opportunities for learning. The faculty staff is second to none in America. The teachers are very student centered and care about their students. The academics offered are excellent in preparing students for whatever choice they make whether academics,technology, or trade school . Allen High School is rather large in enrollment, around 3500-4000 kids but each student is treated individually to suit each child's needs. The extracurricular classes are also first class. Every student is encouraged to participate in some extracurricular activity. Some parents may complain about Allen High School's budget for athletics but it is a Pacesetter school and is recognized as one the country's best high schools by the United States Department of Education. As a parent, I would want my child to attend the Allen ISD system than any other system in the country. Allen High School, you have to see it to believe it.

I have attended Allen High School for the past 3 years and have had many mixed experiences with it. First, I will cover the positives. The school is very good with academics for those who want to strive to do better. The technology level of the school is also very impressive. Regarding the staff of the school, it really does vary by teacher. Some are nice, some aren't but I think taht is a given with almost any school. The negatives of the school is it is very overcrowded for the low level classes(non AP). The average class size in an AP class was around 15 while in a non AP class it approached 30. Overall, AHS is a great place to learn if you don't mind bumping into a few people in the hall on your way to your next class.

Good high school. Great variety of learning opportunities for academics and athletics. My children graduated from AHS in 2000 and 2001.

AHS is a very large school (>1000 in each grade). There are definite benefits to that: lots of resources, wide variety of extra-curricular programs, many AP and IB classes, etc. Just realize that you can only have so many involved in any activity- which means only a small % actually get to take advantage of those opportunities. Also, priorities are out-of-whack (as with many schools). AHS has a multi-million $ INDOOR TURF FOOTBALL FIELD...used for PRACTICE. Meanwhile, they are short on calculators for upper-level math. The biggest issue I hear from my four kids is that the students get away with 'murder'. Now keep in mind they are talking about the sheltered, suburbia definition of 'murder': back-talking, PDA, disrupting class, cursing, etc. In summary, Allen is a GOOD district and AHS is a good school. Much better than the VAST majority.

I have been with this school district for 7 years and it has been fairly good. There are lots of opportunities to take interesting classes that most schools don't have and also provides a good AP program with many choices to take. However, I feel that even with all the choices, I'm limited to what I can take because each teacher and class act like their course is the only thing to do in life and that I should devote their entire life to that activity. Large examples of this are the marching band (over 500 students who work 3+ hours a day) and the football, which gets way too much money. Kids feel pressured to stick with one thing and never get a chance to try out all that Allen has to offer. Education should also get more of the money, not sports.
