Husband-and-wife team James and Barbara Follain write together. Jim is an economic and financial analyst of housing and mortgage markets. During the past 30 years he has served as a professor of economics and finance at the University of Illinois and Syracuse University and a visiting professor at Siena College, as well as an economist with Freddie Mac, Fidelity Hansen Quality, the Federal Home Loan Bank of San Francisco, the Federal Reserve Board and the Urban Institute. Jim performs a variety of consulting assignments related to housing and mortgage markets, some of which involve FI Consulting, a firm headed by Jim and Barbara’s son, Tom, and a former student of Jim’s at Syracuse University. Barbara, an experienced homebuyer, focuses on making their articles clearer and more relevant. The couple live in upstate New York.
