The Berkeley, Calif., home of Twitter cofounder Biz Stone is now on the market.
Twitter cofounder Biz Stone has listed his Berkeley, Calif., house for $575,000.

If a tweet could be a house, what would it look like?

Perhaps it would look like the home of Biz Stone, who cofounded social media and microblogging website Twitter, which allows friends and colleagues to keep in touch via 140-character mini blog posts, called "tweets."

The two-bedroom, two-bathroom 808-square-foot cottage, designed by California architect William Wurster, has been listed on Cyberhomes for four days for $575,000.  Urban Bay Properties (a McGuire Company) has the listing for the home, which is at 1409 Greenwood Terrace in Berkeley, Calif.

Sales data on Stone's home from Cyberhomes shows that the cottage was purchased about three and a half years ago for $550,000, so if Stone is able to sell his home at asking price, he won't see much price appreciation.

 Crash and sell

But he may have some luck in selling the property -- when he tweeted about his decision to place the home on the market on July 17, it created such a stir that Twitter crashed minutes after the posting. His listing no doubt has sizeable online traffic, if not substantial foot traffic by potential buyers.

A man of few words -- and furniture

The interior of Stone's home epitomizes a Twitter post -- clean and uncluttered, with no extraneous details. The wood floors, beige walls and simple furniture bounce off the natural light that comes in from the house's floor-to-ceiling windows and skylights. (The home's real estate listing contains multiple photos.)

Moving on

As for why Stone is selling his residence, we're not really sure, but the Silicon Alley Insider suggests that perhaps he's looking to shorten his commute -- while Stone's office in San Francisco is a mere 10 miles from his house, the drive can take as long as an hour and 10 minutes, depending on traffic. A whole lot of Tweeting could get done in that time.—Lauren Baier Kim
