I am a fan of the TV show, Jon and Kate Plus 8 on TLC. The show focuses on a couple -- Jon and Kate, who after having twins, went on to have sextuplets. The show delves into their everyday life, and being a mom of twins myself, I am always amazed at how they can keep life flowing so smoothly with so many children.
The other day I watched an episode where the family moved into a new -- and very large -- home. My interest was piqued, so I did a little online searching. It turns out there's a lot of blogging going on about the Gosselins' new home.
According to online accounts, the 6,200-square-foot house has five bedrooms and seven bathrooms, what looks like a separate, three-car garage, and is about $1.35 million. I guess that Kate -- a former nurse and current stay-at-home mom -- and her husband are doing well with their TLC engagement. One blog I found includes photos of the property, plus what looks like to be the actual real-estate listing for the home. The blog says that the family actually moved in a few months ago, in November. The residence itself is approached by a long, tree-lined drive, has a pool and appears to be surrounded by farmland. It looks like a pretty idyllic place to grow up for a brood of eight kids. This site also has some good photos of the house.
The house is reportedly in Wernersville, Pa., in Berks County, whose county seat is Reading, Pa. I did some digging about the town on Cyberhomes, which says that the median estimated home value is $181,497, with current listings of homes for sale ranging up to $786,790. Wernesville also looks like a fairly small town -- it has just 2,970 households, according to Cyberhomes. —Lauren Baier Kim
