Choosing a Property
When you do a search, you’ll see an overview of the neighborhood on an aerial map. You’ll be able to zoom in on the property you searched for — the “Highlight Property” — or browse around the other properties in the neighborhood. Choose any property you like based on price, number of rooms, size or other features. You can zoom in or stay at the bird’s eye view, depending on how deep you’re ready to get into the details.
Once you find your place, dig in. You have access to all kinds of property information about a place and its position in the community, including the comparables, the community around it and some of the economic factors shaping the local and national housing market. No property is valued in a vacuum; the price of any home is highly intertwined with the conditions surrounding it. The community and neighborhood in which it is located can also play a significant role in your enjoyment of life in a new home. Learning as much as possible about any property is a vital part of your decision-making process.
And here’s where you can enhance the property information even more by using what you know. Click “Refine Value” to add information that you know and broaden your perspective on a property. Change the facts on hand about a property and evaluate specific features to see how these details might impact the overall estimated value of the property. You can even play around with how improvements you’d like to make to a property might affect its value. Apply your changes, then take another look at the property value estimate. You can combine our expert tools with your own first-hand knowledge to refine the estimated value of any property in the neighborhood — your own or someone else’s.
